Booking.com Reviews Explained: 48-Hour Invites, a Three-Year Score, and What a UAE Property Can Do at Check-Out

STSmaacaad Team · 6 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

If you run a hotel, serviced apartment or holiday home in the UAE, your Booking.com score decides a lot of bookings. Yet many owners do not know how it is calculated. This guide explains how Booking.com reviews work and what you can do to help guests leave honest ones.

How reviews get onto Booking.com

According to a Holidu host help article on the Booking.com review score, and the guidance it summarises, the only way to leave a review is to have made a booking first, which ties reviews to real guests. Booking.com sends the guest an invitation email roughly 48 hours after check-out, and the guest then has three months to complete the review. Booking.com checks reviews for authenticity before they appear.

How the score is calculated

The same source says the overall score is based on guests' individual scores over the last three years, using a weighted calculation in which more recent reviews count more. Guests choose an overall score from 1 to 10, which is the only mandatory question.

Two practical points follow:

  • Recency matters. A burst of reviews two years ago helps less than steady reviews now.
  • The invite goes to the booker. If one person booked for a family or a company group, the others never get the email.

What you can do on check-out day

You cannot write the review or offer rewards for it. Booking.com reviews are tied to the booking, and offering incentives would undermine them. What you can do is make sure guests remember the invitation, and that the experience at departure is smooth and friendly.

  • Mention it in person. "You will get an email from Booking.com in a couple of days. We would value your honest feedback."
  • Resolve problems before they leave. A guest whose issue was fixed is much more likely to write a fair review than one who left annoyed.
  • Keep a card at reception. A card that opens your Booking.com page gives guests a quick way back to your listing and works as a reminder to watch for the review email.

Where an NFC card fits

An NFC card linked to your Booking.com listing is not a review form. What it does is give guests a quick path to your property page, and a reminder to look out for the review email. Treat it as a reminder and a shortcut, not a way to bypass the booking-based review system.

The Booking.com Review NFC Card with QR is AED 29 per piece and the Booking.com Review NFC Stand with QR is AED 59 per piece at the time of writing. Check the product pages for current prices.

Keep expectations realistic

Because only booked guests can review, a card will never replace the email invitation. Its value is smaller but real: a visible, tidy reminder at the moment guests are most likely to remember your service.
