GITEX Global 2026 Just Moved to December — What the Date and Venue Change Means for UAE Exhibitors

STSmaacaad Team · 27 Sep 2026 · 4 min read

GITEX Global has run in October for as long as most UAE business owners can remember. Not this year. According to the event's own official site, GITEX Global 2026 has moved to December 7–11, 2026, and it is also changing venues — from the Dubai World Trade Centre to Expo City Dubai, the site built for Expo 2020. The schedule now runs as the invite-only GITEX Summit on December 7, followed by the main expo floor from December 8 through 11.

If you run a UAE business and GITEX is on your calendar every year — as an exhibitor, a walker looking for suppliers, or just someone who sends staff to scout what's new — this is a genuine planning change, not a footnote.

What actually changed

Two things moved at once: the date and the venue. Expo City Dubai is a considerably larger footprint than the World Trade Centre, which tracks with GITEX's own growth — recent editions have run past 6,000 exhibitors from well over 180 countries, spanning AI, cybersecurity, fintech, telecoms, and smart-city tech, plus a large startup pavilion. Moving the date out of October also means GITEX no longer opens right at the start of the UAE's traditional autumn events season; it now lands in early December, in the same stretch as year-end budget closing and the run-up to the holiday period.

Why the shift matters for a UAE SME, not just the big exhibitors

For a small or mid-sized business, this changes two practical things:

  • You have more lead time this year — roughly two extra months compared to a usual October slot — to actually plan a booth, order print materials, and brief staff, instead of scrambling in September.
  • It now competes with year-end, not year-start planning. December is when many UAE businesses are closing books, planning next year's budget, and staff are taking leave. A show that used to open the season now closes it, so travel, hotel, and staffing decisions need to happen earlier than habit would suggest.

None of this is a reason to skip GITEX — if anything, a bigger venue and a longer scale-up point to a bigger show. It is a reason to lock logistics now rather than in November.

The part that actually loses businesses money every year

Here's the part that has nothing to do with the date change and everything to do with how these shows actually go: exhibitors spend real money on a booth, travel, and staff time — and then hand out a stack of printed business cards that half the people they meet lose, misplace, or bin before they get back to their hotel. The card does its job for exactly as long as it survives in someone's pocket. After that, the lead is gone, and there's no record of who scanned or picked one up, no analytics, nothing to follow up on systematically.

A tap-or-scan digital profile card fixes the part that's actually broken. Instead of a printed card that either survives or doesn't, a Custom Logo Digital Business Card with Name (AED 59) opens your full profile — name, title, bio, phone, WhatsApp, socials — the instant someone taps or scans it, with a Save Contact button so you land straight in their phone rather than in a pile of cards on a hotel desk. Because it carries your own logo rather than generic branding, it still reads as a proper company card at a booth, not a gadget. For teams ordering a batch for multiple staff at a stand, the Custom Logo Digital Business Card (AED 49) does the same job without the printed name, so it works for whoever's staffing the booth that day.

If you're planning to exhibit or attend this December

  • Book your stand and travel now — the venue and date are both new this year, so don't assume last year's hotel or flight availability holds.
  • Brief whoever's on the booth on what they're actually handing out, and make sure it survives being tapped or scanned dozens of times a day.
  • Decide before the show, not after, how you'll follow up on leads — a digital card that logs a save is easier to act on than a business card pulled out of a jacket pocket three weeks later.

The venue and the date are Dubai's call. Whether your leads survive the show is entirely yours.
