Intersec 2027 in Dubai, 12-14 January: How to Use an NFC Business Card at a Trade Show Without Losing Leads

STSmaacaad Team · 31 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

Intersec 2027 runs 12 to 14 January 2027 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, according to the organiser, Messe Frankfurt Middle East. The 2026 edition, the 27th, reported 44,764 trade visitors from 151 countries and 1,180 exhibitors from 56 countries, with 82% of exhibitors coming from international markets (Intersec press release, published on Zawya). If you are a security, fire and safety, or cybersecurity company exhibiting or visiting, the hard part is not meeting people. It is keeping track of them afterwards. This guide covers how to run an NFC business card at a trade show without losing leads.

Why a three-day fair is a contact problem

Intersec is trade-only: the organiser states that the show is open to trade visitors and that under-18s are not admitted. That means almost every conversation is with a buyer, a distributor or a specifier. With 1,180 exhibitors, a visitor who takes a paper card on day one will have dozens more by day three. Cards get lost in jacket pockets; a name on a lanyard badge is gone once the badge goes in the bin.

What an NFC business card should do at a fair

  • Open one clean page on a tap. Name, role, company, phone, email, website, WhatsApp and a "save contact" button. Not a link list of twelve things.
  • Have a printed QR code on the same card. Not every phone will read a tap on the first try, and some visitors prefer to scan. Always give them both.
  • Use the same page for every staff member's role. The booth lead, the sales engineer and the regional manager each need their own card, but the same layout, so visitors recognise your brand.
  • Keep it editable. If your hall number, stand number or product focus changes, you update the page; you do not reprint.

A simple booth routine

  1. Before the show, test the card on an iPhone and an Android phone, with the phone case on. Check that the page loads on mobile data, because hall Wi-Fi can be crowded.
  2. Put the card in the staff member's hand, not on the table. A tap takes a few seconds and starts a conversation.
  3. Ask for a WhatsApp message in return: "Send me a hi so I have your number." The visitor's number is the lead.
  4. Within 24 hours, send a short follow-up with the product they asked about.

For visitors: what to carry

If you are walking the halls rather than exhibiting, a single card with your company, your role and what you buy is enough. Our All-in-One NFC Business Profile Card with QR + Logo is built for this: tap or scan, one profile, all your details. See the All-in-One NFC Business Profile Card, or the plain NFC Business Cards if you only need the basics.

What not to expect

A card does not replace a booth conversation or a lead-scanning badge that the organiser may provide. It is the part that survives after the show: your details, always current, saved on the visitor's phone. Test the card well before 12 January, and send exhibition orders early. We ship express across the UAE.
