Metal NFC Business Card in Dubai: Does Metal Block the Tap? What to Check Before You Pay More
Searches for metal NFC business card Dubai keep turning up in our Search Console data, so here is a plain answer to the question behind them: does a metal card still tap properly, and is the material worth paying extra for? We do not sell metal cards, so this is advice, not a pitch.
Does metal block an NFC tap?
Metal is conductive and can disturb the magnetic field NFC relies on. Card makers say the fix is design: antenna placement, spacing and a shielding layer. That is a vendor claim, not an independent test, and most of what is published on metal NFC cards comes from sellers, so treat it with caution. One card provider's help page (Linq) says a metal card can fail to read when the wrong side is tapped, and that the signal is only picked up at the marked area of the card. It also says metal phone cases can interfere with NFC. The practical point: a metal card may need a specific tap spot, and that does not always mean the card is faulty.
What UAE sellers are offering
Searching for metal and bamboo cards in Dubai returns mostly vendor pages. Some UAE sellers list PVC, bamboo and metal NFC cards, and others describe metal cards as durable but heavier and more costly to produce. We could not find independent reviews or current UAE pricing for them, so confirm price, delivery time and tap performance with the seller directly.
Questions to ask before paying extra for metal
- Which spot do I tap? Ask for a short video of a tap on both an iPhone and an Android phone.
- Is there shielding? Ask whether the chip is built to work on metal.
- What happens if it does not read? A good profile also has a QR code on the card as a backup for older phones.
- Can I edit the profile later? The material matters less than whether you can change your phone number, job title or links without reprinting.
- Who owns the link? Make sure the card opens a profile you control, not one locked to the seller.
Where the material matters, and where it does not
If you hand a card to a client across a table, weight and finish do make an impression. If you give cards to a team of ten, or leave them at a reception desk, reliability matters more than looks. Whatever the material, the value sits in the digital profile the chip opens.
What we sell
Smaacaad's NFC Business Cards are PVC cards with a QR code and logo on every card, so a phone that does not tap can still scan. The All-in-One NFC Business Card is an NFC-chip-only PVC version that opens one profile with contact details, website, WhatsApp, socials and a review link. Both work on Apple and Android. Prices are shared on request through WhatsApp. If you want metal specifically, we would rather say so than pretend PVC is the same thing.
A simple rule
Test any card, in any material, with your own phone and your clients' phones before ordering a batch. Ask for one sample, tap it five times on an iPhone and an Android phone, and only then order more.
