Dubai Design Week 2026 (3-8 November): How Studios and Makers Can Turn d3 Visitors into Followers

STSmaacaad Team · 27 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

Dubai Design Week 2026, the 12th edition, runs 3–8 November 2026 at Dubai Design District (d3), according to the official announcement carried by WAM and TradeArabia. The commercial fair Downtown Design runs 4–8 November. For designers, makers, studios and the cafes and shops around d3, this is a week when a lot of creative people walk past your work in a short time. The question is what they can do about it in the moment.

Visitor numbers for the 2026 edition have not been published in the sources we checked, and reports on earlier editions disagree, so we leave numbers out and focus on what you can control.

The problem with design events

People at a design week look at a lot of things and remember very few. A visitor likes your piece, takes a photo, moves on, and three days later cannot remember your name or studio. Your job is to make the next step effortless: one tap or one scan to your Instagram or portfolio, while they are still standing in front of your work.

Dubai Design Week Instagram: make your profile the destination

For most designers and makers, Instagram is the portfolio. A printed handle on a label is easy to ignore; an Instagram NFC Follow Stand with QR on your table lets a visitor tap a phone or scan the code and land on your profile. The QR is the fallback when a phone does not read NFC, and the destination link can be updated later in the Smaacaad dashboard, so you can point it at a new collection after the week.

Before the event, tidy the profile the link opens:

  • Pin your three best posts so a first-time visitor sees finished work immediately.
  • Put your studio name, area and a contact method in the bio.
  • Check your highlights. A “Design Week” highlight gives new followers something to open today.

Capture the enquiry, not just the follower

A follower is not a client. If you take commissions, add a way to start a conversation. The All-in-One NFC Business Card can hold your Instagram, WhatsApp, website and location in one profile, so a buyer who is serious can choose the channel they prefer. Hand it to the people who ask about price or lead times, not to everyone.

If you are a cafe or shop near d3

Design Week crowds need somewhere to sit, and they search Google Maps on their phones. Make sure your Google Business Profile hours are correct for the week, and keep a review prompt at the till. A Google Review NFC Stand with QR turns a happy customer into a visible review without anyone typing your business name. Follow Google’s rules: ask everyone, never offer a reward for a review, and never filter for only happy customers. We cover the policy in our post on asking only happy customers.

After the week

  • Reply to every new follower message within a day.
  • Send your price list or lookbook to anyone who enquired, with a clear next step.
  • Keep the stand in your studio or shop, and change its link to your current focus.

Confirm programme details and entry requirements on the official Dubai Design Week and Downtown Design pages before you plan your visit.
