Eid Al Etihad 2026 (2-3 December): A Checklist for UAE Cafés, Shops and Salons During the National Day Weekend

STSmaacaad Team · 25 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

The UAE's 55th Eid Al Etihad, the National Day holiday, falls on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December 2026 under the Cabinet's fixed holiday calendar, for both the public and private sectors. With Friday 4 December as a single day of leave, many residents get Wednesday to Sunday off, and the Cabinet has in past years shifted the days to create exactly that kind of long weekend; a final announcement usually comes in mid-November. For a café, shop or salon, that means a holiday-weekend crowd arriving a week before Dubai Shopping Festival and days after White Friday. This is the checklist.

1. Fix your Google hours first

The most common National Day complaint in reviews is "drove there, it was closed". Set special hours in your Business Profile for 2 and 3 December, and for Friday 4 if you change them. Do it now; Google often prompts businesses to confirm holiday hours, and the prompt is ignored by half of them. If you are opening late for fireworks crowds, say so.

2. Do the offer the compliant way

National Day offers are everywhere: 55% off one item, a special menu, a free flag with purchase. Google's October 2026 policy rewrite means the offer cannot sit in your listing's name or description any more. Put it in an Offer post with the dates, on Instagram, and on a sign in the window. Never tie an offer to a Google review; that breaks Google's policy and Dubai Police have made arrests this year over fake and incentivised reviews.

3. Decorate without breaking the brand

The flag colours, the 55 logo and the official Eid Al Etihad identity are released each year by the organising committee. Use them on the shop front and on social posts, keep your own logo and QR codes clean, and do not print the flag across your review card or menu QR; the colours fight the code and it stops scanning.

4. Staff the counter for a crowd that is not yours

Holiday-weekend customers are often visitors from other emirates or tourists who have never heard of you and may never return. They are also the customers most likely to leave a review, because the visit is an event. Put a review stand at the till and have every cashier say one sentence in English and Arabic. A café that serves 300 people on 2 December and gets 15 reviews out of it has done more for its Maps ranking than a month of normal trade.

5. Capture the ones who might return

Residents from Sharjah or Abu Dhabi visiting Dubai for the weekend will come back if they remember you. An Instagram follow stand next to the review stand keeps them. For restaurants, a tap menu card with the full menu in Arabic and English handles the bilingual holiday crowd without reprinting.

6. Plan the reply shift

Reviews from a long weekend arrive over the following week. Assign one person to reply to every one, in the reviewer's language, within three days. Mention the holiday in the reply; it reads as personal, and other searchers see the date.

7. Watch for the DSF handover

Dubai Shopping Festival opens days later and runs into January. Keep the stands on the counter, keep the one sentence, and treat Eid Al Etihad as the dress rehearsal for the busiest retail month of the year.

Kit list

A Google Review NFC Stand with QR + Logo for the till, an Instagram NFC Follow Stand with QR beside it, and for restaurants the Digital Menu Card. Order by the third week of November to have them in place with Express Shipping before the holiday; pricing is on request.
