One Stand or Two? When a Café Should Use an All-in-One Combo, and When Separate Google and Instagram Stands Work Better
The most common second order we see from a café is the one that follows the first. A café buys a Google review stand, watches reviews come in, and a month later asks for an Instagram follow stand as well. Then the counter has two stands, the cashier is unsure which to point at, and the owner asks whether a single all-in-one stand would have been the better buy. The honest answer is: it depends on the counter, and this post explains how to decide before you order rather than after.
What each option actually does
A single-purpose stand opens one destination. Tap or scan the Google review stand and the review form opens; tap the Instagram stand and your profile opens with the follow button. There is no menu, no choice, no second screen.
An all-in-one stand opens a short profile page with buttons: review us on Google, follow on Instagram, chat on WhatsApp, see the menu, save our contact. The customer picks. The combo products bundle one stand with two staff cards programmed to the same page.
The case for separate stands
- One tap, one action. A customer who has to choose from five buttons often chooses none. When the cashier says "tap this to review us" and the form opens immediately, completion is highest.
- The ask can be targeted. Staff point the regular who already follows you at the review stand, and the first-time visitor who loved the latte art at the Instagram stand.
- Measurement is clean. Reviews go up or they do not; followers go up or they do not. Nothing is mixed.
The case for the all-in-one
- Counter space. A kiosk, a food truck or a specialty coffee bar with 40 cm of counter cannot host two stands and a tip jar.
- Mobile staff. The two cards in the combo go into the pockets of the people who walk the floor or deliver, and a single page is easier to explain than two cards.
- Changing priorities. The page behind an all-in-one can be edited. When you move from chasing reviews to pushing a new loyalty link or a seasonal menu, you change a button, not the hardware.
- Multiple platforms. A café that genuinely needs Google, Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp on the counter cannot run four stands.
A simple decision rule
If your counter has room for two stands and you have one or two clear goals, buy the two single-purpose stands; the extra completion is worth it. If space is tight, your staff move around, or you want to change the destination over time, buy the all-in-one combo. If you have several branches, standardise: the same layout at every till makes training a single sentence.
What goes wrong in practice
The failure mode for separate stands is clutter: three stands, a menu QR, a payment terminal and a card reader, and the customer's eye lands on none of them. Keep it to two, and put them where the hand rests while waiting for the card machine. The failure mode for the all-in-one is a landing page with too many buttons and no clear first one. Put the action you care about most at the top, in a different colour, and keep the rest below.
How the staff sentence changes
With two stands: "You can tap here to review us, or here to follow us." With the all-in-one: "Tap this and you can review us or follow us, whichever you like." Either way, say it to everyone, offer nothing in return, and reply to reviews within a few days.
The products behind this post
The two-stand setup is a Google Review NFC Stand with QR plus an Instagram NFC Follow Stand with QR. The single-stand setup is the All-in-One Combo, one stand and two cards on one editable page. Both carry NFC and a QR code, so they work on any phone. Pricing is on request and orders ship within the UAE with Express Shipping.
