Sharjah International Book Fair 2026 (4-15 November): A Checklist for Authors, Small Publishers and Nearby Cafes

STSmaacaad Team · 27 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

The 45th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) runs 4–15 November 2026 at Expo Centre Sharjah, with Oman as guest of honour, according to Khaleej Times and the Sharjah Book Authority announcement. Gulf Today reported that 2,673 publishers and exhibitors from 124 nations will take part. It is a 12-day event, which makes it unusual: this is not a one-weekend rush but a long stretch in which readers visit repeatedly.

If you are an author, an illustrator, a small publisher or a cafe near the venue, this guide is about one thing: keeping the people you meet in touch with you after the fair.

Sharjah book fair for authors: the readers who ask “where can I find more?”

A reader who enjoys a signing will ask where to find your other books, your next event or your newsletter. A printed bookmark answers that once; a link you can change answers it all year. Here is a simple set-up that works for independent authors and illustrators:

  • One link, one destination. Decide whether visitors should land on your Instagram, your website or a page listing your books.
  • Make it tap-able at your table. An Instagram NFC Follow Stand with QR lets a reader tap or scan and follow you in seconds. The QR works for phones that do not read NFC, and you can update the destination link later from the dashboard when a new title launches.
  • Keep your contact details ready for professionals. Booksellers, school librarians and festival organisers want a name, number and email. A digital business card shares all of it in one tap, so you do not run out of paper cards on day four.

Small publishers: separate the customer from the trade contact

You will meet two kinds of visitor. Readers want to follow you and buy; trade contacts (distributors, schools, libraries, rights buyers) want a person to call. Tell the two apart early. For trade contacts, write a line about what they asked for and the date you promised to reply. For readers, the Instagram or newsletter link is enough.

Cafes and shops near Expo Centre Sharjah

A book fair brings families and long days. People look for somewhere to sit and decide on their phones. Two small things help:

  • Keep your Google Business Profile accurate. Check opening hours and your phone number before the fair starts.
  • Make a review one tap away. A Google Review NFC Stand with QR at the counter lets a customer reach your review page without searching. Ask every customer, and do not offer a discount or gift in return; Google’s policy does not allow it, as we explain in this post on incentivised reviews.

If you serve food, a live menu helps on busy days: the Digital Menu Card opens your menu on dm-only.com, so you can mark an item as sold out from your phone instead of reprinting.

A realistic expectation

A tap point does not sell books. It makes it easy for a reader who is already interested to find you again. Check the official SIBF website for opening hours and entry details, since neither was confirmed in the announcements we read.
